Electric RC Trucks
Electric RC Trucks provide a good remote control vehicle for off-road situations in rough terrain. While RC cars are meant more for on-road situations and are designed for pure speed, trucks are usually built to be able to navigate rough terrain without sustaining considerable damage. They can navigate through mud, leaves, grass, sand, over hills, rock-crawling, and can sometimes even survive through water, flips, and crashes.
Electric RC trucks can be purchased in two wheel and four wheel drive, and they come in many different styles and models. You can get jeeps, off road vehicles, and even monster trucks in remote control form!
One of the most popular makers of electric RC trucks is Traxxas. They have been making radio controlled vehicles for many years, and their Traxxas Stampede truck model has recently been overhauled to become a superior force in the RC truck market. It can reach speeds of 30 MPH or greater, and it’s strong enough to crush aluminum cans!
You need to understand that RC trucks aren’t built for raw speed. You may never get up to 60 MPH with a truck, especially from an electric model. Most electric truck models will travel between 15 and 30 MPH, with a few perhaps reaching up to 35 MPH.
Where they excel is going off-road. They’re not going to be very impressive on a track or in a parking lot or driveway, but they will definitely impress when they are taken into a field or put to the test on the beach where a standard car would become hopelessly stuck.
Some people feel there is a stigma associated with trucks. They want a car because they want something flashy or fast. And that’s fine if that’s what you’re looking for. But if you want something strong, powerful, and capable, a truck may be more your speed.
Obviously an electric truck isn’t going to be as fast or powerful as a gas model, but it will be a lot cheaper. Nitro RC trucks are very expensive, difficult to maintain, and have a much higher maintenance requirement. Electric trucks are not only cheaper to buy, they’re also cheaper and easier to maintain.
Because trucks are so durable, they’re also cheaper and easier to maintain than cars. It’s less likely that your truck will be out of commission for repairs than a car, so if you’re worried about durability, a truck might be a great choice.
There is one major downside to an electric model. While a nitro truck could run for many hours on a single tank of fuel, an electric model is probably not going to last very long on a charge. This means you will often have significant downtime while waiting for batteries to charge. Of course, you won’t have to worry about buying expensive fuel, and it’s much easier to put an electric model into storage for an extended time, but it can be an annoyance to have to stop playing with your truck to charge it.
Overall, trucks make a great choice if you want something heavy-duty to use in all types of terrain. They won’t be as fast as a car, but they can go where cars can’t, and they can be every bit as flashy!
