A small turbine jet can cost over a thousand dollars. Although turbine jets are pricey, they have gained popularity among serious hobbyists and some of the designs are truly things of beauty.

Turbine jets will need good quality aircraft fuel and the correct amount of oil. The speed of a turbine-powered RC jet is given in revolutions per minute (RPMs). The greater the speed, the greater the amount of lubricant needed for optimum performance.

You can maximize the speed of your jet RC airplane by perfecting the design. Make sure that the size of the tail cone is suited for the fan. You should also check if the shape of the airfoil is correct and if the inlet shape is correct. A properly shaped inlet will ensure clean airflow. The surface of your jet should be smooth and clean.
