RC Electric Car - RC Powered Hobbies

RC electric car models have fallen out of favor a bit in recent years, because nitro cars are much faster and more exciting. While it’s true that electric cars aren’t as fast as nitro cars, they can be just as much fun, and they are much less expensive.

In fact, there are some electric models made by HPI Racing and Traxxas that reach speeds that are almost comparable to gas-powered models. While electric models may never reach the astonishing speeds of nitro models, they have certainly come a long way in recent years.

Not only are electric models generally cheaper to buy, they’re also cheaper and easier to maintain.

Any type of vehicle with an internal combustion engine is going to require quite a bit of maintenance, and the cost of nitro fuel has been rising lately. This makes it more expensive than ever to run the gas-powered models. For this reason, some people are turning back to those electric models they had once abandoned.

Some electric models have fun features that aren’t found in gas-powered models. For example, the RC Formula 1 Crash Car has a hood that pops open whenever it crashes, and it will also pour real smoke out of the engine in a crash.

The 24 inch Mini Cooper model has an extremely detailed interior, as well as its own alarm system. This is cute, but it also has full racing capability, reaching fairly impressive speeds for an electric model!

One major reason people choose gas over electric models is the hassle of waiting for RC car batteries to charge. It can be tough to wait for the batteries to charge when you’re excited to be out there racing, but the new high-end chargers make it possible for cars to run longer on fully-charged batteries. This helps take away some of the annoyance factor that may irritate some people.

Perhaps the single biggest reason to choose an electric model over a gas model is the fact that electric models are far cheaper to buy and maintain. It is very inexpensive to buy a good electric model, but the cost of a gas model can be extremely prohibitive for many people. It is also more expensive to maintain a gas model, because you have to keep buying fuel and making repairs if they crash at high speeds.

Electric models are also recommended for beginners. Gas models are so much faster that beginners are more prone to wrecking them, which can be a very expensive lesson. By sticking with electric models, you will be less likely to crash, and there will usually be less damage when you do.

Even though an electric model will be cheaper than a nitro car, it’s a good idea to read the manual thoroughly and follow its maintenance instructions carefully. The better you take care of your car, the longer it will last, and the more fun you’ll be able to get out of it before you have to replace it or make major repairs.
