RC Race Car - Radio Control Hobbies

An RC race car is the way to go if you are thinking about getting into the racing side of RC. There are a few things you should know. First of all, you don’t want to buy an electric car for racing. Battery-powered electric cars are much slower than gas-powered cars, and they’re never going to reach the speeds necessary to compete against other racers.

If you want to seriously compete, you will have to go with a nitro-powered car. These cars are powered with a special type of fuel cell rather than strictly battery power. The fuel is typically encapsulated in a cell called a glow stick or nitro stick. This type of fuel is very efficient and lasts quite a while, and it also makes very powerful cars.

Nitro-powered RC cars can reach speeds of 60-75 MPH, which is much faster than even the fastest electric model. A few models can reach up to or even over 100 MPH. The only way to race competitively is to race a gas-powered vehicle.

Models that run at speeds in excess of 100MPH are usually modified by their owners and operate on a fuel an nitrogen mixture. They are mostly 1:10 scale touring cars, and they generally cost around $300 and up.

Most of these types of models have 4WD, so they can handle themselves very well on paved surfaces and even for short periods off road. Their handling makes them a dream to race competitively.

Gas Powered RC Race Cars - What You Will Need

In order to operate a nitro-powered RC race car, you will usually need 8 AA batteries for the controller, another 4 AA batteries for the receive box in the car itself, a glow stick containing nitro methane fuel that is at least 20% nitro, and a glow plug igniter which must be charged for at least 15 hours prior to use.

Gas-powered race cars have another major benefit over electric models besides speed. They can also usually run for longer periods at a time than battery-powered models. They can run until their gas stocks are completely empty, and it only takes a small amount of time to refuel one. Electric models don’t have as long before their batteries run out, and it takes a long time to charge them.

Buying An RC Race Car

When buying an RC race car, you should look for a model that combines speed, power, and durability. Since racing at high speeds is always dangerous for the car, you’ll want a model that won’t crumble to pieces during its first accident. You want a model that can survive crashes and last a long time. Buggies are a great choice, because they have fantastic speed, superior handling, and they are very durable.

RC race cars come in many styles. You can buy cars that are modeled after Formula 1 racecars, touring cars, production cars, stock cars, karts, and even various types of off-road vehicles like jeeps and monster trucks. Whatever type of vehicle you’re into, there’s almost certainly an RC car modeled after it!

You should choose a car based on performance and features first, but you’ll also want to make sure you’re happy with the appearance, especially if you’ll be racing often.
